Corporate Governance
At Batken Petroleum Refinery, we focus on governance. Governance is the oversight that results in conducting our business in alignment with our values. The aim of our focus on governance is to ensure that we uphold ethical standards and fundamental business practices. Governance extends throughout Batken Petroleum Refinery via the Board, Chief Executive Officer, Executive Leadership Team, and managers then to all employees.
Risk Management
Each Board committee helps Batken Petroleum Refinery manage risks across the company and compete more effectively to build long-term value. Each committee is chaired by an independent director who determines the frequency, length, and agenda of the committee meetings and who has access to management, information, and independent advisors as needed. We also maintain strong governance through written policies.
We support energy security
Batken Petroleum Refinery engages with the executive branch, Congress and state officials to provide our perspectives on energy issues. We engage in the public policy process through indirect lobbying and by participating in select business and policy organizations that advocate positions that support fair and responsible energy policies as well as free markets.
Active Engagement
Our community hotlines are available 24-hours a day, seven days a week so that neighbors of our facilities and landowners of our pipeline rights of way can contact us to ask questions and report concerns.Community Advisory Panels (CAPs) are made up of community representatives from various backgrounds and are established at all our major refining assets. CAP meetings provide forums for members to learn more about MPC and our operational and community initiatives and projects, as well as to ask us questions, raise concerns or share opportunities.
Thriving Communities
We are committed to making our communities stronger, safer and thriving places to live, work and play. MPC provides funding for programs that promote the resiliency of our shared communities including helping to address basic needs, supporting youth development programs and creating opportunities for economic vitality. This also includes safety projects and efforts that help communities better prepare for, mitigate the risks of and respond to disasters, hazards and emergencies.
Political Transparency
Batken Petroleum Refinery business is heavily regulated by federal, state and local governments. As a result, developments in Kyrgyzstan and in the capitals of the states where we do business can significantly affect our ability to meet the need for safe, reliable, affordable and sustainable energy and products.
